How are you, guys?

Since being named "World's Most Delicious Food" by CNN -- not just once, but twice -- Beef Rendang has become even more popular around the world. But did you guys know that in West Sumatra, there are many more types of Rendang beyond the classic beef version?

If you guys are planning a trip to the land of Minangkabau, here are five Rendang varieties you can try:

1. Beef Rendang

For Minangkabau people, Beef Rendang is more than just a dish. It's an important part of our culture. During traditional ceremonies, Rendang is always served as one of the centerpieces of Minangkabau cuisine.

2. Chicken Rendang

Popular in Payakumbuh City, this variant is usually made with free-range chicken. Its firm texture holds up well during the long, slow-cooking process. It's also more affordable for everyday meals and, of course, more tender and easier to chew than beef.

3. Egg Chips Rendang

This is a unique twist. Unlike the more common version made with boiled eggs, this one uses fried eggs (similar to an omelet), cut into pieces and cooked in Rendang spices until they become crispy -- almost like chips. It's also a popular souvenir that you guys can easily find in Payakumbuh City.

4. Shredded Beef Rendang

Also made with beef, this version is shredded into fine strands (similar to Indonesian abon) and cooked in Rendang spices until completely dry. It's a favorite travel-friendly souvenir.

5. Jengkol Rendang

Calling all Jengkol lovers! The jengkol is boiled until partially cooked, then simmered in rich Rendang spices until tender. The result is a soft, savory dish full of flavor. You guys can find Jengkol Rendang in many local Minang restaurants.

Out of these five Rendang varieties, which ones have you guys ever tried? And which one is your absolute favorite? Anyway, thanks a lot for reading.
